For those of you waiting (and waiting….) for me to update all of my previous year 2018 links, I think I have them all moved to the new server. All of them. Please let me know if you have any issues with the 2018 links.
I have started on 2017 links………….egads!

What a fantastic weather day it is! In the mid 70’s, sunny, gentle breeze. Perfect. Makes me wish that the sun would never go down on this day. It’s a good day to get centered and grounded within, pull close to friends and family and ignore the din and noise of politics and world affairs. It makes me tired and sad sometimes, the “outside” world, so I try to keep my focus and love simply on my circle of influence.
There is a “She Shed” going up at the Rush Ranch. A small affair – nothing fancy, but will be handy as it is positioned right by the garden. It will be great for starting new seedlings and storage of garden supplies. It will have a front porch, and will actually have a somewhat nice view of the valley floor, below. Here are a few photos.
On the animal front, success has been achieved, at long last. We have finally – after almost a YEAR of unsuccessful attempts – figured out how to feed Douglas, the dog. I know that may sound weird, but hear me out. As you may remember, Douglas is a trained hunting dog, a German Shorthair, whose owner passed away in August of last year. Douglas had nowhere else to go, so we adopted him. He would eat his dry food, which we keep out and available 24/7. But he would eat a can of dog food at dinner time for his prior owner. We were feeding him the same kind, but often he would appear to just not want it. I thought that perhaps a lot of it was that he was grieving. I would hold his bowl for him and tell him what a good boy he was, etc….. we would have some success, but it was never right. Finally the other day we were talking about our old friend, and how he fed Douglas. He would sit by Douglas in a chair, and smoke a cigarette while Douglas ate. So we joked about sitting in the chair and taking up smoking. But finally my husband said, can it be that simple? To sit next to Douglas in a chair, as he eats? And it was! And it is! We are such a pair of lugnuts, my husband and I. To take months to figure that out? Duh.
Dealing with a bout of bronchitis this week. Husband finally asked me to go to the doctor’s to check it out, so now I am on meds and should be better by the time you read this. My family got tired of hearing me say “It’s just a chest cold! I’ll treat it with hot lemon water and honey!…..” and then cough my lungs out. Are you like me? Hate to go to the doctor’s, and wait until the last minute to take care of yourself? It’s an interesting psychological mindset – Do we think that we are not important enough to seek immediate attention? Do we try to convince ourselves that we are too busy? Do we think that it is silly to inconvenience medical staff over a silly cold? I don’t know why I do the things I do – being human is complicated. I just know that, in my attempt to be kind to others, I must remember to be kind to myself, as well.

First, thanks so much for the goodies, again! You are so talented! Second, I hope you’re doing better by now. I had some bug last spring that made me cough up a lung or two. It was nasty, but eventually went away. I never went to the doctor for it. (Hanging head in shame.) My daughter (who is several hundred miles away in Utah) has a bug that’s been hanging on forever. She was coughing a lot so went to urgent care and they told her she had bronchitis and gave her an inhaler, which helped a ton with the cough. But she’s been congested again and feels cruddy. I told her to get her bum back to the doctor again. She can’t afford to miss work and lose income, especially since she’s moving to a new place in a month! I think we women in particular tend to not take care of ourselves. We’re always taking care of family or working or whatever, and self-care often comes last. Hope you feel better soon!
