The Story of Joe.

Well, it’s just the beginning of his story, really – Just the prelude – and I’ll state right up front, I need Joe just as much as Joe needs me.

You see, a few days ago we rescued a newborn kitten from a remote road turnout. The little thing was cold, hungry, and its eyes were glued shut from a raging infection.  He was covered in dirt, and had obviously been there for a few days, at the very least.  He was lethargic and hypothermic.  We looked extensively for litter mates and found none.  We waited for several hours, observing to see if its mother was out hunting and would come back.  Yet it was quite obvious that he had no mother around as he was in such poor condition – but we had to be sure.  He would not have made it through another night.  We brought the little fella home wrapped in our sweaters.  He hardly moved or made a sound.  It was so heartbreaking!  We took him to the vet the next day for treatment.

Nurturing and caring actions change us, don’t you think?  At the very least, it grounds us.  It has an impact upon our physical and mental health.  It’s a connection to purpose, and to God’s awesome plan.  It reflects God’s greatest Commandment to love one another…..even animals.  Being kind to every creature and creation under heaven. The universal and sacred circle of life.  Be a part of the goodness!

I didn’t have much enthusiasm for the theme, so my Pixelscrapper offering this month is rather………scatterbrained a bit.  If you visit the Pixelscrapper website, the other designer’s are much more on point than I.

  3. Thanks ever so much for rescuing Joe! I have 3 kitties right now that have been rescued…MzKitty is 15, (brother/sister) Sideways/Misty are 5. Sideways is the only male, nicknamed Bubba had a problem with walking because of a bad leg (now fixed) and very bad eyesight! His sister has taught him a lot and with love and good veterinary care he is the most lovable of all! All Cat lovers thank you! Oh, and thanks a lot for both beautiful kits! Hugs, Mat

  9. First, thanks so much for your gifts, as always!! Second, Joe is ADORABLE! He reminds me SO MUCH of our Angus, who was rescued from under a deck. Angus was also orange and white, and dumb as a box of bricks, but we loved him SO MUCH. Sadly, the “dumbness” came out in Angus, and he first ate sewing thread (!), and a couple of years later ate dental floss. The sewing thread issue was caught in time and surgery saved his life, but the dental floss must have fallen out of the garbage or Angus dug it out, and by the time we knew he was sick he was extremely sick, and we had to let him go. Saddest day of my life, really, what with the hope that Angus would be ok and the realization that he wouldn’t, and seeing my son bawling over this stupid cat who had become his best friend. We don’t regret a minute of our Angus time, and I hope that Joe is around for a very long time with you! (Dang, I didn’t mean for that to get depressing. We just loved that stupid cat so much!)

  10. awww such a precious find. my husband and I also rescued two kittens each a year apart each seemingly on their death beds. it does give a sense of purpose as we believe we were meant to find these two. Thanks for sharing such a heart warming story. And thank you for the beautiful designs. God Bless you all.
