Design Theme: Gateway to Summer

My husband has started building a little greenhouse/shed out by the garden. I am staying out of the way while the building is going on. My job is to deliver sandwiches and cold drinks. Oh – and the occasional “Great job, Honey!” I think this tiny building will be used more for storage of his various tools, than anything else, because there doesn’t appear to be any windows for sunlight in the design. I think this is like the joke about the man that buys his wife a fishing pole for her birthday, even though she doesn’t fish? So he is building a windowless greenhouse…….hummmmm. But, it keeps him active and busy, and that is good for him. He turns 74 years old this year and has not yet started to slow down. The love of my life.
You may have already heard that our dogs – two of the three – thought it an excellent idea to chase a skunk. Ugh. Douglas and Abigail were immediately put into the shower, scrubbed with Dawn dishwashing liquid and hydrogen peroxide to break up the skunk oil, and then scrubbed again. They still have a slight scent, but we will just have to tough it out for a few days until the scent finally dissipates. Of all the things that they could chase around here, they choose the skunk. And most skunk families have their babies by now, so you don’t mess with the mom and her babies.
My daughter was driving home from work late last evening, and saw a tiny kitten on the side of the road, playing and chasing bugs in the tall grass. She stopped to get it, but it wouldn’t come to her – it took off in the field, probably back to its mom. So our mission is to keep on checking in that area, to find that family of kits. Barn cats are common in a farming community, but I would much rather they be OUR barn cats because we put out feed every day for our one barn fella. I haven’t been able to tame him, but I keep working on it. People need to take better care of each other, and their animals.

Sunny, I love Your Work and thank you for your generousity sharing it with me and many others.
The links in this newsletter are not active. The links on your website aren’t active either.
Another remedy for skunk odour is white vinegar. I’d never heard of hydrogen peroxide before. Do you pour it on directly? Hopefully I won’t need these remedies now that I live in the city, but its good to know.

Hello – I just tried the DL links for this Kit on your blog and they are not working…Just FYI… I tried them here in the eMail, also, but they’re not working… 8-/
I always love your kits and your ‘personal sharings’ on your blog. We don’t actually know each other, but your comments make me feel like we are ‘friends.’ Thank You for all – I have thought to write to you several times, but have put it off, and decided to write this today – as I hoped to help you know about the links… ;-}
Sincerely, Lynden (a Sister-in-Christ…and Digital-page-maker…) ;-}

I am sure you know about the links by now, so I will thank you in advance and collect later.
We don’t have skunks, but when the dogs have rolled in fox poo, it is a terrible stink!
People have recommended covering the area with tomato sauce and then washing and say that gets rid of the smell!
Good luck with finding the kittens, my daughter in law had two feral kittens, they were both shy to strangers, but fine with family.
Thank you once again for the lovely elements,

My wonderful, beloved, big 6 year old cat wandered out of a field too. He is mostly Maine Coon and the sweetest, most affectionate kitty I’ve ever had!

Thank you so much for all you share with us! I’m sorry about your dogs and the skunk — what fun that sounds like (haha). We just have cats, and they’re indoor cats, so we’ve never had the skunk issue, thank goodness!

Love this kit, Sunny, especially the papers!
My sister’s dog recently encountered a skunk…they bathed her but the smell got into the wood paneling they had as a tub surround, calling for a full on renovation! Lol. Just the excuse my sister was looking for to refresh the bathroom.
Thank you as always for sharing your amazing creations!
