Scrapping Blog Trains – June 2019

Friends,
Just in case you are wanting to download some of my previous year files, I am still making the switch from Dropbox to Media Fire.  I have completed files from the current day, back to August 2018.  Anything prior to that is still being transferred. I wish that I had a fast internet speed, but it is what it is.  There is no transfer protocol between the two services, so I must upload all the files from my laptop.

My husband and I are taking a fast road trip for a few days in early June,  across the State of Oregon to see his mother in Bend, and then up to Seattle to see our granddaughter.  My husband loves road trips, and I like seeing the scenery – We are a good match.  It will be a nice break from the busyness of the church work, as we get the congregation ready to vote for a new pastor on June 9th.  The Lord keeps pointing me to the words “Patient Endurance”.  There is an end to all of the work, and it is all for good.

We have had a very wet spring, and today thunder rolled across the valley for much of the day.  Douglas and Murphy (the dogs) are clinging to my husband’s legs, most of the time.  They hate the noise of it all.  Since Jake the cat is deaf, he doesn’t mind a bit.  He sleeps through it all.  Even though it has been raining, my daughter was kind enough to work out in the wet to plant three new grapes vines for me.  Now my “Vineyard” consists of five plants!  And, I will assume that it will take another year for them to start producing fruit.  I’m going to ask for raspberry bushes for my birthday, so I can get that patch a little more full.  I only have two raspberry bushes, and one blackberry bush at this time.  (My kids are always wanting to know what I want for my birthday – Plants!)

The butterflies like my baby lilac bushes.  The bushes are so young that they have tiny blossoms.

Scrappin’ Your Heart Out – May

Lots of rain in our area this week, and it’s bad news for the farmers.  Either their fields are flooded, or the seed that they have planted has floated out of place or away.  Not much we can do but stand by and see what the end result will be.  Praying for an end to their bad luck.  We did have an evening where the clouds lifted a bit, and sunset drenched the mountains with color.  I took a quick photo with my phone.  My phone doesn’t want to capture the darker reds, but this will give you some idea of how pretty it was.

Enjoy your month of June – be kind to each other – be kind.  Be helpful.  It makes everything a little easier, a little better for everyone.

The way that the scrapping works for this design team, is that you are allowed to add two additional colors to the chosen palette.  I am thankful for that, as I always have a hard time sticking to a set of colors.  I try to conform, but I know that I must frustrate our moderators at times.  Please check out the other designers in the blog roll below,  because they are much better at following instructions than I.

We Believe Blog Train – May ’19

I am still working on moving prior year’s download files from Dropbox to MediaFire.  So far, only downloads from September 2018 to current have updated links.  I will continue to work on updating links as time permits.  There is no transfer protocol between Dropbox and MediaFire, so I have to upload all of the original files again.  Yikes.

It’s Tuesday morning here at the ranch.  Yes, the silver tufts of dandelions gleam in the morning sun.  The yard is filled with them.  But I don’t want to kill them – they are the first foods of the bees, in spring.  And the hummingbirds are rather calm this year, actually sharing the feeding stations.  I counted five hummingbirds at the same feeder last evening, calmly filling up before sundown.  Their usual pattern is to claim a feeder as their own and chase everyone else off.  I only have three feeders up so far, and I have made the liquid rather sweet for them to help them cope with the cold nights.  Our temperatures still fall into the low 40’s at night.

The local high school down the road has a very robust FFA program.  They have a lovely greenhouse and garden, as well as a big barn for raising chickens, goats, and cattle.  This weekend they had their plants on sale, so I made sure to pick up a few veggies and flowers to support their hard work.  We have been working on our veggie garden soil, adding a large amount of peat to it.  The soil is normally clay-based, which makes for very poor growing conditions. Hopefully, the peat will infuse the soil with more nutrients for a great growing season.

This past Sunday there were three huge golden eagles perched on a fence down the road from us, and I wondered what they were doing…….then I remembered, they were right across the street from a farm that had lots of free-range chickens.  I am sure that the eagles were hoping to catch a few of the chickens unawares…..The circle of life.  I don’t have to like it, but I do respect it.  Speaking of chickens, a new neighbor moved into the local neighborhood with free-range chickens.  The chickens really believed in the “free-range” part, because they loved to hang out in another neighbor’s yard across the street.  That neighbor is an elderly widow, and she didn’t like having the chickens in her yard.  Once she tried “shooing” them back across the street with a broom.  Not effective.  The next time they came to visit, she turned on the sprinkler system.  But the chickens loved the sprinklers!  ALL of the chickens ran over to her yard to hang out in the sprinklers!  So now the chickens are confined to their new barnyard by a fence, which isn’t so bad.  They have an orchard of trees to run through and plenty of nesting places.  But I do miss seeing them hanging out around the neighborhood.

So on with the downloads –

Be well my friends.  Be blessed beyond measure.

Scrap Designer’s Blog Train

Lake-4_600pxLake Livingston was a magical place for our family reunion. The scenery!  Egrets fly gracefully across the water, sailing silently upon warm currents of air. Ducks gather in groups to share the latest news.  Largemouth bass jump for the gnats that the swallows have missed during their aerobatic maneuvers.  A turtle floated by, I suppose, on his way to visit his mom.  And a delightfully green gecko kept me company in the morning sun – I named him Roger.

We would sit out on the deck catching the morning sun and sip our coffees.  We made s’mores around the fire pit after sundown.  Swing3_600pxWe barbequed, we laughed, we hugged, we cried.  We had several “demonstrations” – My brother showed us how to make jerky and fruit leather in his dehydrator.  I showed my sisters how to make a crocheted beaded necklace.  We shared books, had a movie night, and spoke about deep thoughts on long walks.  Sometimes we just sat in the warmth of silence, together, peaceful and content.  It was an awesome, glorious, precious time together.  437c8613e269f8c2e9a2f1194976d0e9I love them all SO MUCH, so much.  I am blessed beyond measure.

Thank you, Lord, for this awesome gift of family,
and the love we share between us!
