Sept ’18 Scrap Downloads

Groups:  Pixelscrapper & Scraptwist
Designer:  The Rush Ranch
Location:  Eastern Oregon

September.  Starting off with a “Bang”, as they say – I woke up early this morning, fed the cats and dog, started up the Keurig……………forgot to put a mug under the stream of Chai Tea Latte being served….dang it!

Cooler weather has arrived, and we have had some soft rain – yet some of the wildfire smoke still remains.  The smoke has confused some of the animals, and we have seen several different groups gather together in their formations and head for warmer climes.

I have seen one of the gatherings only twice in my life, because it is so rare and so AWESOME!  Last week I saw approximately 50 eagles gathering together in the sky, circling around and around, climbing higher and higher until I could barely see them any longer – then they flew onto their long journey.  I couldn’t get a decent video of it, as my phone is just not up to the challenge.  I have seen this amazing thing only once before years ago, in Ninilchik, Alaska.  And then there were HUNDREDS of eagles, both bald eagles and golden eagles. I was transfixed by the sight of it.  It reminds me of our cabin there.  The one regret we have is that we sold our vacation cabin in Ninilchik, when we retired to Oregon.  It was my favorite place.  It rested on the banks of the Ninilchik river, and had a view of the Mt. Redoubt volcano across the inlet.  It wasn’t anything special – but it was special to me.  In the photo below you can see the main house, the woodshed and the two car garage.

I did something for my selfish self last week – I signed up for a digital art class, called “Photoshop Artistry“.  It was more funds than I wished to expend on a luxury, but, every once in awhile, I remind myself that art isn’t a luxury.  We, all of us, are driven to create, in whatever medium or matter we choose.  We shall see how it goes.  I don’t have any ambitious plans to make masterpieces of art, but I would like to learn how to do some more “artsy” techniques.

Blog Train Header
The Pixelscrapper Blog Train theme is “Cozy Kitchen”, so my elements are filled with recipe cards and vintage labels.  I love vintage things, and it is HARD to stop making every kit a vintage looking kit.  Sigh.

As always, my kits are for your commercial use, as you wish.  I only ask that if you download, please perform a kindness for someone.  Start that ripple that travels worldwide – make a difference.

Please visit the blog train forum to pick up all of the kits in this month’s train.

  1. Thank you so much for both the Pixel Scrapper and the ScrapTwist Hop contributions. I love all that you do. I would have loved seeing the eagles-I am lucky to see one at a time.

  2. I don’t know why you need a course in anything artistic. Your creations are gorgeous! I really enjoy reading your stories because you live in such a magical place AND your writing is lyrical and lovely.
    Thank you!

  4. Thanks so much! Sometimes treating ourselves to a new course or whatever is just what we need! (My secret splurge is that I bought a PURPLE record player! It’s supposed to arrive tomorrow! My hubby will roll his eyes, but I’m just going to say it’s my belated birthday present, since I never really got one. Haha!) Your cabin in Alaska sounds lovely! I had to look up where that was, because I’d never heard of it before. My dream retirement home would either be 1) at the coast (Oregon, preferably near Lincoln City, as we’ve vacationed there for MANY years!), or 2) in the mountains but within a few hours drive of a beach. I can dream, can’t I?

  5. Sunny, once again I am in awe, not only of your talent, but of your generosity! There are so many thing I love about your kits this month. 🙂 I think, though, that I’m going to have to print out that “2 choices for dinner tag” … my 3 year old seems to start dinner off every meal these days with “I don’t like that!” haha

Good luck with your Photoshop class, it sounds intriguing!

  6. Sunny, thank you so very much for ALL of your contributions. I have to admit that I really partial to your style of papers. The variety of watercolor-y papers that you dream up is incredible. I love them!
