Scrappin Your Heart Out – Sept ’18

Design Team:  Scrappin Your Heart Out
Theme:  I Could Have Scrapped All Night
Designer:  The Rush Ranch

Sorry this is a short note this time.  It’s been a busy week of organizing some church activities and coordinating various paperwork items.  Our Pastor is retiring, and some of the activities that he led have to be covered by others in the interim, until we get a new shepherd in his place.  Life goes on, we move forward knowing that all is accordance with HIS great plan.

We are traveling to the Oregon Coast this weekend, taking the three dogs with us.  The horses and other animals will be tended to well, by my grandson. I need a small break to walk the beach, breath in the sea air, and listen to waves crash upon the shore.  We will only have two days, but it will be two days immersed in one of my favorite places.  My mind clears, my thoughts become uncluttered, and I feel renewed.  There is something so AWESOME about sitting on the beach at sunset, watching the sky change and the setting sun fade into twilight.  I love the mornings, too, but I am usually the only one up at that hour.  Makes for a peaceful and slow morning, as I meander along the foggy shore.

This month’s theme is called “I could have scrapped all night”.  I encourage you to visit the other designers in the blog train, as they are much more creative in their work that I.  My designs are free for CU, all I ask (again) is that you perform a kindness for someone.  It’s up to each one of us to change the world, one kindness at a time.  And honestly, don’t you always feel really good yourself, after performing a kindness?  Of course you do.

We Believe Blog Train – Sept ’18

Design Team: We Believe
Theme: God’s Word – Psalm 119
Designer: The Rush Ranch

This is the “We Believe” Blog Train, and this month we are focusing on Psalms 119. The chapter is filled to overflowing with sweet goodness!  I used verse 90, in making my scripture cards:   “Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.”   I really connect with the “Faithfulness to all generations”.  I love genealogy, and I can see how, through faith, my ancestors moved across the face of this earth in all directions.

Please visit the other designers in the blog train, I know that you will enjoy the other awesome designs.  And remember – I’m counting on you to perform a Random Act of Kindness at every opportunity!

As a side note, I am moving to a new file storage provider – normally you would be downloading from Dropbox, but today you are downloading from MediaFire, so if you have any issues, please let me know in the comments section.

On a more personal note, I want to talk about the quality of my design work. I receive critical comments from time to time,  from folks that have a different scrapping style than mine – and that’s ok. Honestly, I appreciate their feedback. It’s a big world of scrappers out there, so it’s easy for them to just move on and connect with those that design in their preferred style. I’m sure that Rembrandt would have provided MAJOR commentary on Monet’s or Picasso’s masterpieces. Everybody has different creative visions, and all are valued.

I certainly recognize that my endeavors in designing watercolor papers or digital art papers are not for those that prefer more structured or precise images. And, I’m just learning, exploring how I can push my art a bit further. Personally, I am most happy with explosions of watercolor and foggy or veiled images. I simply say “Thank You” to those of you that keep visiting my blog to download my designs. Thank you for YOUR kindness and support. I have had the pleasure of connecting with you in the comments section or via email, and you bring great joy to my efforts.  Sincerely – Thank you, for being you!

Blog Train – Farm & Fair

Designer Team:  Scrap Designer’s Blog Train
Theme:  Farm & Fair
Location:  The Rush Ranch, Eastern Oregon

Hey, we inherited another dog.  My husband’s friend that passed away last month had a dog that needed a home, so here we are with three dogs.  Every animal on the ranch is a rescue, except for Murphy the yellow lab.  Anyway, “Doug” is fitting in just fine with the rest of the fur team.  Here he is snuggling up with Jake the cat, for a nap.
Doug-and-Jake---sept18
Doug has a few quirks that we are recognizing – he loves to be covered up with his blanket when he sleeps.  He likes his head covered.  He also has to have someone standing next to him while he eats – or else he won’t eat. I think that he misses his former owner, and he frequently crawls up into our laps for cuddles, even though he is a rather large dog.  A very sweet guy, we already adore him.  We have a checkup scheduled with the vet this coming Tuesday, to get him up to date on vaccinations and a general checkup.

Our lab Murphy has a birthday on Monday – He will be 10 years old.  My husband wants to give him a Birthday Party, and bought some ice cream to share with the dogs.  It may not be the healthy thing to do, but, a bowl of vanilla ice cream has Murphy’s name on it.

Have you done something kind for a stranger this month?  I’m counting on you!
And because you are kind and thoughtful to others, this new download is yours for commercial use.  By the way, the download for the word art is included in the elements download, even through there is a separate word art preview.

I encourage you to visit the designer’s in the blog role, below my previews.  They have really exceeded the “awesome” level with this theme.  There are times that I struggle with a theme, but not these designers!  In fact, I can’t wait to download them myself!

Sept ’18 Scrap Downloads

Groups:  Pixelscrapper & Scraptwist
Designer:  The Rush Ranch

September.  Starting off with a “Bang”, as they say – I woke up early this morning, fed the cats and dog, started up the Keurig……………forgot to put a mug under the stream of Chai Tea Latte being served….dang it!

Cooler weather has arrived, and we have had some soft rain – yet some of the wildfire smoke still remains.  The smoke has confused some of the animals, and we have seen several different groups gather together in their formations and head for warmer climes.

I have seen one of the gatherings only twice in my life, because it is so rare and so AWESOME!  Last week I saw approximately 50 eagles gathering together in the sky, circling around and around, climbing higher and higher until I could barely see them any longer – then they flew onto their long journey.  I couldn’t get a decent video of it, as my phone is just not up to the challenge.  I have seen this amazing thing only once before years ago, in Ninilchik, Alaska.  And then there were HUNDREDS of eagles, both bald eagles and golden eagles. I was transfixed by the sight of it.  It reminds me of our cabin there.  The one regret we have is that we sold our vacation cabin in Ninilchik, when we retired to Oregon.  It was my favorite place.  It rested on the banks of the Ninilchik river, and had a view of the Mt. Redoubt volcano across the inlet.  It wasn’t anything special – but it was special to me.  In the photo below you can see the main house, the woodshed and the two car garage.

I did something for my selfish self last week – I signed up for a digital art class, called “Photoshop Artistry“.  It was more funds than I wished to expend on a luxury, but, every once in awhile, I remind myself that art isn’t a luxury.  We, all of us, are driven to create, in whatever medium or matter we choose.  We shall see how it goes.  I don’t have any ambitious plans to make masterpieces of art, but I would like to learn how to do some more “artsy” techniques.

Blog Train Header
The Pixelscrapper Blog Train theme is “Cozy Kitchen”, so my elements are filled with recipe cards and vintage labels.  I love vintage things, and it is HARD to stop making every kit a vintage looking kit.  Sigh.

As always, my kits are for your commercial use, as you wish.  I only ask that if you download, please perform a kindness for someone.  Start that ripple that travels worldwide – make a difference.

Please visit the blog train forum to pick up all of the kits in this month’s train.
